Buying Guide for Hospital Beds

Hospital beds, as the name suggests, are typically found in medical settings such as hospitals and clinics. However, these beds have become an important part of home care for many patients and their caregivers. Here at Juro's Pharmacy Health & Wellness, we have created a guide to help you choose the right bed for your needs. We’re located in Billings, MT, and we also serve customers from Laurel, MT.

Manual Beds

Manual beds are the most popular option, in part because they are the most affordable. These beds feature hand cranks to adjust the height and angle of the bed. Manual beds work well for those who have enough manual strength to operate a hand crank, or who have caregivers who are able to assist them.

Semi-Electric Beds

Semi-electric beds have a remote that can adjust the angle of the bed, but still have a hand crank for the height of the bed. They still may require some assistance, but are far more convenient for patients to adjust the angle of the bed. If you need to change the angle to eat, sit or relax, you can do so electronically without any exertion.

Electric Beds

Fully electric hospital beds are the most convenient and comfortable beds you can get. All adjustments can be done with the touch of a button. They’re perfect for patients that want to maintain their independence, without relying on a caregiver for assistance.

Bariatric Beds

Bariatric beds are designed for patients that require a higher weight capacity. These beds come in a wide variety of sizes that can be tailored to your needs.

Mattresses

Once the right model has been selected, let's not forget that there will be a need for a mattress. The mattress should be comfortable enough for patients that require bed rest day and night. Some options include alternating pressure reliefs, foam prevention, and innerspring.

Bed Accessories

Patients that spend extended periods in bed may need an overbed table for activities such as writing or reading. It’s a good idea to invest in some accessories for those patients who spend a lot of time in their hospital bed.
